Sydney Price, a graduate of the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for theVisual and Performing Artsin Dallas,Texas has been awarded the top prize in the 8th Annual John Lennon Scholarships, sponsored by theBMI Foundation. The program recognizes the best and brightest young songwriters from around the nation.Sydney received the 1st Place honors and a $10,000 scholarship for her song,“Moon Lullaby”during the BMI PopAwards ceremony in L.A. on May 17.
As a vocalist, Sydney has been exposed to a wide range of musical styles and performances. She has sung withthe Dallas Symphony Orchestra and as the recipient of the 2004 and 2005 ShirleyTennyson-McFatter Competi-tion has been the featured soloist with the Dallas Jazz orchestra. She has also performed at Dallas’ innovativeBend Studio and renowned Lakewood Theater.
Sydney has experience singing commercially on music produced for television, including music for the series, PeterJennings, In Search of America and CNN’s ShowbizTonight.
Currently, Sydney is pursuing a degree in vocal performance atThe New School for Jazz and ContemporaryMusic in NewYork.
